Turns out Mr. Cash Pugface isn't a fan of Thomas the Tank Engine.

I can't believe it's been 5 whole years since I became a mamma! In so many ways it all still feels brand new. Yesterday we celebrated Mr. Golden Curls' 5th birthday in Buzz Lightyear style and it was so much fun. Apparently he enjoyed it as well since in the middle of opening gifts he paused to loudly declare "This is the best birthday I've ever had!" I love anything that makes my boys happy and brings family and friends together in my home. There were friends and family and even some of our wonderful new neighbors. I hated to see everyone go!
Our first time with a birthday classic, the pinata! We went for the pull string kind. I'm guessing The Bohemian was thankful for that since he's the one who ended up holding it for lack of a good hanging spot.

Mr. Golden Curls asked for "a big kid bike with brakes" so that is what we got him. I imagine it'll take some time before he's comfortable enough to take the training wheels off, but he seemed very proud of his new ride.
Lil' Spitfire wanted dressed out in brother's pads and helmet. Oh yes, and a baboon Velcroed to his back all day! Oh, but tell him it was a monkey on his back and his response: "It's not a monkey, it's my jet pack!" He has always loved dressing up and it can lead to some pretty strange outfits and accessories!
Mr. Golden Curls also asked for a pair of cowboy boots like Grandpa's and of course Grandpa was happy to oblige!
Things are slowly coming together. The paper order that was MIA and then arrived only in part is hopefully being fixed and then some. Hard to make paper crafts without paper! I am getting some paper bead bracelets whipped up, perfect Earth Day craft! And keeping busy with some other little crafty things. Today I'll be getting ready for the family invasion happening this weekend, I'm so excited to see everyone! Saturday Mr. Golden Curls has a party in celebration of his 5th birthday! So I'm doing the cleaning. Not just the normal, keeping the house from total chaos cleaning but the oh my goodness family, friends, and new neighbors we barely know will be in our house kind of cleaning. Huge difference!
Most little boys pretend to be Superman or Batman, you know, a big cheese of the superhero community. But not Lil' Spitfire, he likes to pretend he's Charging Buffalo. Who the heck is Charging Buffalo you ask? Well, The Bohemian likes to play a little game called City of Heroes and his biggest toon is Charging Buffalo. Lil' Spitfire dons his cape and "stone boots" and even makes perfect Charging Buffalo jumping noises, it's adorable and of course Pappa loves it! This morning we got to see the latest spring fashion that I'm sure will soon set fire to the superhero runway, Diego shorts jammies and Thomas the tank engine snow boots. All the rage for the next season of fighting for justice!

I am a firm believer in the Easter hat and having boys gave me no reason to change my beliefs. Easter is one of the only times of the year my boys get to be my baby dolls and I just love it. Grammy took us shopping at The Childrens Place and, I'm not biased in the slightest, but my boys look like they walked off the catalogue pages. As a matter of fact I fully expect to be contacted by the company and given a large bag of cash just for posting their adorable pictures on my blog! :) I think it's a little strange that Easter clothes can make me so giddy but good grief this is cute!
I'm just going to have to suck it up, we are in that bizarre picture taking phase where I just can't get a good one, especially when the boys are together. Mr. Golden Curls chronically goofs off and Lil' Spitfire tries so hard to give a good smile, a little too hard!
This picture reminds me so much of my brother though I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the super blond hair. Or the casual, devil may care wave. I'm banking on the wave!
At home we hunted Easter eggs. It rained like crazy most of the day so we were inside. And yes, those are plastic eggs. I like to deprive my children of as many authentic holiday experiences as possible until I just can't aviod them any longer.
